Year 5 has two classes, Roberts and Ennis-Hill

Kracken

Roberts Class teacher is Miss Richards and Ennis - Hill Class teacher is Miss Clotworthy

The classes are ably assisted by Miss Tickle, Mrs Marston and Mrs Saywell

In year 5, we strive to support your child with their learning, helping them to become more independent and ready for the challenges of year 6. This means that it is now your child’s responsibility to ensure they have all their equipment (pencil cases, glasses, reading logs, water bottles etc.) so that they are ready for the day’s learning.

Year 5’s new topics for the Spring term will be Geography ‘Go with the flow’, in which we are studying rivers. Science will be focused on ‘Animals including Humans’ which is about animal and human development. PE will now be on a Monday morning with Kevin and a Friday afternoon, with a focus on Goalball and blind football as part of the sports awareness unit. Due to the timing of the PE sessions, we ask that a full PE kit be in school during the whole half term. This includes: a white polo shirt, dark shorts, tracksuit bottoms, plain jumper, sensible trainers (no studs) which fit. Long hair needs to be tied back and earrings removed or covered.

Homework is usually set on the first day of the week and is due in 4 days later. In addition to this they will also have extra spellings to practise over the weekend which is tailored to your child’s specific needs. As is expected throughout all of the Federation, the reading logs need to be completed daily by your child.
